In the last year of the COVID-19 pandemic, only families are permanent; here, people gather together, face severe disruptions to their daily lives, and adapt to the new requirements of their personal space. Emaraat has noticed how the pandemic has changed the classic home. 

From offices to ‘work at home’ to steam rooms, the following design trends have emerged and are likely to continue. Work from home. The home office (an old/ nonfunctional room of the house converted to an office) is the perfect solution to offices being closed. A designer in Los Angeles said: “It is very small and compact enough to fit into a truly efficient work area.” Now that we have discovered home office, many people may not want to give it up.

Secondly it is great when your family is nearby but the pandemic shows us that having family around all the time…we can say it has been an interesting social experiment. Therefore, it is no wonder that in the past, people began to build walls in their open houses to create more and more private spaces. Each family member has a different plan of the day:  whether it is cooking, studying, working, exercising relaxing or watching TV.  In these activities it’s best to do it in your own place.

Being locked up in our houses for over a year has forced many of us to want to spend more time outside in gardens and lawns, relax and have fun. People built open spaces, including outdoor kitchens with bbq sets, dining rooms, and living rooms with fireplaces, and even open terraces. More outdoor space helped people gather in corona times keeping a safe distance and fresh air allowed everybody to keep safe. 

COVID-19 has changed many a things in our day to day life; our architectural and constructional needs have also taken a turn.
